What We Value at Agape Christian Fellowship

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The purpose of Agape Christian Fellowship shall be to WIN, EQUIP, and SEND committed followers of Jesus Christ who will be able to take His Gospel from Brattleboro to the uttermost part of the earth.

CORE VALUES

I.  We value the glorification of God as the preeminent purpose for every believer. (Whatsoever, therefore, you eat or drink, or whatever ye do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 18:31

THEREFORE WE WILL:

1.  Purpose to ensure that every program and ministry of the fellowship will maintain the highest ethical standards, purest motives, and most transparent presentation we may aspire to attain that the glory of God may be seen in every endeavor of the church.

2.  Purpose that all discipline, correction, and reproof required within the body will reflect the holiness, compassion, mercy, and faithfulness of our Heavenly Father.

3.  Purpose to build within each member of the body of Christ, a Kingdom vision that desires above all else that men of every tongue, tribe, kindred, and nation will know and exalt the Name of our God.

II. We value the authority of the Bible as the ultimate standard for life. (All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. (2 Timothy 3;16)

THEREFORE WE WILL:

1.  Determine not to allow human opinion or experience to rise above the written Word of God, nor to sit in judgment of it.

2.  Ensure that the written Word of God will be the source of all doctrine and practice of the church.

3.  Purpose that all teaching will be in contextual agreement with the intent of the original, inspired author and shall not be used to teach doctrine or to establish a practice that is not consistent with the original intent of the author.

III.  We value the necessity of continual prayer for maintaining a personal and intimate relationship with God. (Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. Ephesians 6:18)

THEREFORE WE WILL:

1.  Cultivate an environment that encourages a personal lifestyle of prayerfulness.

2.  Ensure that an appropriate time for corporate prayer is provided in each gathering of the body.

3.  Develop a means of efficiently mobilizing the body to prayer in emergency circumstances.

IV.  We value the integrity of the family as the spiritual foundation of the church, and as the spiritual center of the Kingdom of Heaven. (And he shall turn the hearts of the fathers to the children and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse. Malachi 4:6)

THEREFORE WE WILL:

1.  Exist as a supplement and support for the home in spiritual training and strive to never become a substitute for the home in godly growth and training.

2.  Strive to train parents to train their children, restore fathers to their Biblical role as the spiritual head of the family, and provide support and mentoring to single-parent homes and to children without parents.

3.  Work to ensure that the church calendar will not steal time from families, and risk replacing the home as the center for spiritual life.

V.  We value the nurture found in Christian fellowship as vital to a healthy spiritual life. (And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart.  Acts. 2:46)

THEREFORE WE WILL:

1.  Promote and provide meaningful support for Home Fellowship groups by training leaders and providing guidance in teaching to ensure that each member of the body has the opportunity for intimate, meaningful fellowship.

2.  Maintain regular fellowship opportunities within the body and promote the inclusion of every member in that fellowship so that each person can enjoy the maximum benefit of Christian Fellowship with the encouragement, emotional support, and loving correction that comes from healthy personal relationships.

VI.  We value the fulfillment of the Great Commission as the highest calling of the church. (And He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. Mark 16:25)

THEREFORE WE WILL:

1  Endeavor to be committed to the work of worldwide evangelization, giving the best of our workers and resources to the task of fulfilling the Great Commission.

2.  To the fullest extent that God’s provision will allow, we will generously finance the fulfillment of the Great Commission beginning at our front door and extending to the uttermost parts of the earth.

3.  Reflect the sense of urgency demonstrated by Christ and His apostles in reaching the world with the gospel.
